Looking for 12" Ludwig or WFL "Club Date" style

Disregard this older thread:

Change of plans... Since I received a Champagne Sparkle Downbeat snare for Christmas, I've decided to base my next set around that color. Funny how one piece can dictate the direction a project goes.

I need a 12" tom with a single, center-mounted double-end Bowtie lug, like Club Dates had. An earlier WFL tom would be just fine, even preferable, even though that drum would predate the "Club Date" designation.

There's PERFECT 1965 Champagne sparkle tom on eBay right now, but I can't bring myself to pay that price--yet. We'll see what's available. If I can get away with a re-wrap for much cheaper, I'll do it. This is to be a player's set, not something worth a great deal of money.

Nickel hardware is preferable over chrome...

Thanks,

~jp

I have a WFL/Ludwig project that has stalled due to other committments. It includes is a Ludwig keystone badge black/gold duco set that someone covered in contact paper. I bought a few other WFL drums to go with it. It consists of:

8x12 Ludwig keystone badge tom (contact paper removed, along with some chipped paint)

9x13 WFL tom (clean)

14x14 Ludwig floor tom (unknown date or badge, wrap removed, covered in black contact paper)

12x15 Leedy & Ludwig marching snare (contact paper partially removed, converted to floor tom)

14x20 Ludwig keystone badge bass (contact paper partially removed)

5.5x14 WFL snare (clean)

Are you interested in more than just the 8x12?

Hmm... I really only need the one 12" tom. I may be interested in the L&L tom, since it has Ludwig & Ludwig Imperial lugs on it--but mainly just for the lugs. That's for a different project, though.

This particular project will be a 4pc, 12/15/26 for quick set up and break down. I'm getting a shallow (10"-12") bass drum and the 15" tom will be a former marching snare. I want to be able to pack it all in a small car, and I just wouldn't have any need for the extra drums.

I hate to break up a nice set, but yours is piecemeal as mine would be...

If you can bear to sell some pieces individually, I'd be really interested.

I could not tell from your original post what all your project was going to entail. Let me think about the 8x12 tom. It may be time to split this project up, sell the complete drums and part the rest of it out. Too many other projects not getting done.

Mmmm.... Champagne Sparkle is my new favorite finish on Ludwigs (even new ones). You should definitely post pics in the gallery, if you haven't already.
