Go's back into the late 1930's .....Hammer style
What year did Zildjian......
I think it was within 1 year after The Beatles were on Ed Sullivan the first time (Feb 14,1964)....Is that right?Help2

I don't think the exact date is known but that would be about right. The Ringo factor made it impossible to continue with any hand hammering and still be able to meet the deluge of orders that they suddenly had to fill.
With quite a few A Zildjians I see posted as “hand hammered 50’s-early 60’s," I can see they were ‘bumped’ into shape via drop hammer and for the most part they look like they were guided under a machine. The pattern is way too symmetrical and even to be hand hammered. Perhaps there is some truing up of the shape by hand, but it’s not clear in many pictures

In the late 50's and early 60's there was only a little hand hammering that was done as compared to some of the earlier eras. Usually the bottom side was machine hammered and the top got about 5 or more rows of hand hammering in fairly widely spaced circular patterns.
Why,thank you......thank you very much! Clapping Happy2
Actually,The Beatles on Sullivan the first time was Feb 9th,1964....
Then, they were on the 16th and 23 also! 3 weeks in a row..........
What about EAKs? I thought they were certainly hand-hammered. And, the Canadian K's were hand hammered, but are we only talking about the Avedis line here?

Good point. To be completley correct we also need to consider those too.
But just beware that just because some guy selling on eBay says that his cymbal is "hand hammered", doesn't mean that he actually knows what he's talking about. They often put that in there just to gin up more interest in their auction, when in fact they actually don't have the slightest idea of how to tell. Sort of like certain sellers who claim their cymbal is a trans stamp when its obviously let's say a 1960's stamp. And this happens surprisingly often.
