From poppy79424

yes its original

Well, in that case, the Rustoleum paint I mentioned would probably be great for restoring that era of Acrolites. :)

I've used the hammard metal paint a few times. Its real cool, but its really tuff to match a vintage drum excatly.

there are four different grey colored acro's, the original Dull grey finish from the prototypes to the late 60's early 70's silver polished finish ,a darker grey finish from mid 70's, the textured grey finish from late 70's early 80's, and then the Black galaxy finish up to the present! the $100.00 price Isn't a bad deal it Isn't a great deal but not bad, I've never paid over $50.00 for one myself.

Your drummers not much good is he!? What you need is someone that's as good as me. ! John Henry Bonham !!

$100 ea. ? I found 2 at a pawn shope here a few weeks ago. They sold me the black one for 80 and threw the older one in for free. I thought it was a great deal for me.

Thats a deal NOBODY can pass up.Just the hardware alone on both snares would be worth the price

I just bought two a couple weeks ago on Craigslist. One was $50 and the other was $40. Both with a hard case and stands. Those were the asking prices as well! I love it when I don't have to say a word except "I'll take it!"

I just got one incomplete for $15 on CL. It was missing the strainer and hoops, snares and heads. Lugs are in good shape though.

I bought some pearl exports with a acrolite snare and new beat hats and some stands for $150. Sold the exports on ebay for $350, kept the snare and zildjian new beat hats and the stands. I have 8 acros. They are good trade ins at a pawn shop. The will fetch $100 on ebay. I have heard that the acrolite shell is identical to the supraphonic shell. The biggest difference is the supras hasve 10 lugs and is chrome, and the acros have 8 lugs and are painted, with the exception of the earlier models that are aluminum colored

Hello all, I'm NOT an expert but I have been collecting since 1984 and I've seen and owned many an Accrolite. I started naming the finishes myself to help better describe them to my buyers. The early Accro's I call a Raw finish because it is plain aluminum. Then of course came the painted finishes and now the Powder coated which I've been calling a Crinkle finish but I noticed someone else called it a Pebble finish. Anyone know the factory name other than Powder Coated? David.

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.
