Somebody had 3 ply red sparkle Amati bass drum. Guess what.

He cut it in half, creating "practice drum" to be used with practice net-head.

If it was the usual 6 ply Amati, I'd say he made good use of it. But it's not!! It's the only line of Amatis that sounded good (or at least so I've heard, I haven't yet laid my hands on any of these - and now this!)

Gah! People do such awful things! Violin

EDIT: Oh and now I see that one of those other shells is a horribly trashed 3 ply snare... I wanna cry.

Sysl krysu nenahradi!

Yep! A sin! What also makes me insane are people who drill fifteen holes in a beautiful vintage drum for the sake of mounting some modern pieces of cymbal arm crap or cowbell attachments! Ahhhhh!!!!!

Just a drummer who loves all things about vintage drums! Nothing more, nothing less.

Salty,

Unfortunately, lifetime musicians/drummers often find themselves in no financial condition to buy the new kit when the old kit's hardware becomes, shall we say, outdated. I understand and forgive in cases like that. Wisdom comes with age, and I think we are more aware of the sanctity of the vintage gear. I wish I could overturn a few of my decisions. Happy New Year...band3

personally, i'm a big fan of duct tape. i think everything should be duct taped together when its broken. i'm in the food business and nothing can put a broken watermelon back together like duct tape and buzzing snares---nothing stops them faster than a couple of good wide pieces of duct tape.no tuning key required. in fact i'm surprised that the drumwrap people haven't brought out duct tape with drum wrap patterns,or chrome duct tape or coated ambassador duct tape, bronze duct tape---that way you could keep your drums properly repaired and look good too. why learn to drill and retap threads when there is duct tape. oh yes and i forgot about wire-----you know, they don't make wire or twist ties in enough different patterns----something should be done about that.......
