I saw that one, couldn't believe the way it looked, and for my experiences, if it doesn't look right, it isn't.... And if you are questioning it, you have your doubts.

I'd stay away, as it's not worth the risk for all that money to find out it has been repainted and rewrapped. An original untouched snare will pop up eventually that you wont have doubts about, just have patience.

I agree Mdbarba, if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, well it's a duck. If this many guys who spend a great deal of collective time looking at pictures of drums on here and elsewhere think something is up,well then something is up. I offer no opinion on the drum as I don't know all that much about them, but it would be enough for me to pass just based on what I read in this thread. They made more of those snares than just this one........

From OldSchool

The Vintage Drum Guide of the VDF has a section called "Internal Drum Paint." In the article addressing Rogers drums it states that wooden Powertone snare drums NEVER had flat grey interior paint. The Powertone snare drums had [/B]glossy grey interior shells.

Thanks, OldSchool !! .... I wish there was a pic of the correct shade of grey there to help out.

It just looks dark to me in the listing....

Thanks BigE.... the interior paint on yours looks to be a different color than the eBay drum too....

Now I'm really confused ???

I don't know. I've got a Rogers Powertone snare in champagne sparkle wrap and the interior looks extremely close to this one. I don't understand what's triggering all the negative vibes.

I think because it is in such great shape! I agree with you,it looks legit to me except I have my concerns over the snare side .The tension rods are cranked up tight as hell. And inside the washers look very close to if not in the re-ring.

Maybe camera angle. Fine lookin drum OldSchool. Just like mine!!

My own ignorance to the subject is one trigger, for sure. I'm learning.

After looking around a bit, I think maybe my concerns are not valid. Here's a link to picutes of a nice blue sparkle that might help:

Thanks, all.... I'm leaning towards legit.... it was just the paint for me looking a little dark, but now that I've seen some of your examples, I feel OK with it.

Thanks very much.

BTW.... the BIN is high, I know, but I was going to put in an offer if she passed muster with you guys.

Go for it!! It is a nice looking drum in great shape concerns aside. I think the color concern is more lighting than actual color. My concern like I said is the cranked tight reso side. Maybe the owner liked it cranked up. I hope you win it for a good price!!
