Hey Bill. Are these a matched set? The reason is, I'm looking for a 14 floor and a snare. Oddly enough, I need them to be in this finish around these date markers. Let me know and thanks.

Hey Bill. Yeah, I'd be returning that set too. Man...2G's?? If I'm spending 2 large, whatever the set is Gretsch, W&A (which are much more rare and harder to find in complete sets) these babies better be showroom clean, as we know from some of our sticklers, mint is not in the cards unless it's still in the original box.... so damn near mint (not sure what to call that??) but the set would need to be that nice to jump off cake like that!! IMHO only. Then there's the splits???? Sure, we know that Red O and Blue O from back in the day had this problem, but that problem was with the drums that were not well cared for and babied, as cold conditions would sure mess that wrap up. That and the edges have been recut??? That my friend is insult to injury!! This and it's so close to XMAS that this weekend only kinda slam is just that. A slam! I hope that the original seller treats you right in a refund, and you have a great XMAS for sure. Just had to ramble a little, and please..nothing personal, just My honest Opinion..nothing more. Cheers

Johnny, no prob, thanks for the feedback. A Rogers 18-12-14 in any finish is very rare...I've had 3 kits over the years, and they've sold for between $2500 and $2500 for the three drums, and none of the kits I've had were issue-free. If this kit was in great shape, no issues, matching snare in Red Onyx, I'd want $4000 for them. It's mainly because of the 14x18, which is quite rare and desirable...the same kit only with a 20" rather than an 18" bass drum would be worth much less. My thinking is that, as is, they are worth about half of what they would have been with no issues.

Thanks,

Bill

Hi mcjnic, my feeling is that they are a matched set, but I can't be sure. The snare may be added on...it's a circa late '66, right before Dayton. The other drums have serials dating to around '67 - 81562 (14), 90772 (18), and 109556 (12).

Thanks,

Bill

Thanks for posting them. As much as I wanted the snare and the floor, I just couldn't bring myself to buy that beautiful set in order to break it up. Kudos to you for spending some time with them. They are definitely special. I'm a bit depressed for watching them go, but life does go on.
