Bass Drum Spurs For Valencia?

Loading...

Guys, I'm looking for a new pair of spurs for my Valencia Bass drum that will fit in the original round mounts. I want straight legs with the sharp points. Modern replacement ones are fine, not looking to spend alot if I can help it.

What would you suggest?

Many thanks for any help,

Retro

Call and ask Matt to give you the exact diameter. There are two sizes. And you are Welcome!

Retro, I know this isn't the right thread, but did you ever figure out your strainer situation?

You know, I don't mean to sound like a moron, but at this age, if there is ANY weakness on the edges of the holes, loose fiber etc., I would not fault a man for going to the next up size. The only people who care are those of us on here. Besides, weakness is never a good thing where spurs are concerned.

Yes, thanks to the help of the good folks on here. Drum factory direct had a strainer that will require just a slight enlargement of the two small holes on my Valencia snare shell ....no new holes will be needed. This means if I ever sell the drum, I can put back the original strainer.

The "big" hole from the old strainer will still be there, but I have bought some chrome gromments from Billy Blast for that hole and the air hole on the bass drum and they should both look great.

When I finish the restoration on this set I will post a bunch of hi res pictures. Its coming along just great.

I did decide...NOT to install the bass drum cymbal holder, even tho I found the exact one Pearl used on the mid 60s sets like mine. i dont want to alter history.
