Zildjian doesn't offer any logo refresh service or products and the Sabian offering is nothing more than a stencil and Sharpie. It think that it may act as a potential red flag regarding authenticity and should be considered along with manufacture stamp/engraving. I doubt that a ring of N i g e r i an scammers is trying to corner the phony vintage splash cymbal market...but I'm really leary of eBay and CL....OK more like flat out paranoid.

Quit lookin' out the blinds, man.............:)

I personally wouldn't worry about an ink stamp. Ink wears off after every cleaning, as we all know. I'd be more concerned with the "correct" metal stamping/makers mark in the cymbal instead. But more importantly, I'd be concerned with how it sounded. I've owned some "high end" cymbals in the past that were real dogs, and I've owned some "budget" cymbals that were real gems......some name brands, some no names.....I go by what sounds good to my ears, not what ink stamp is on it. :2Cents:

Agreed of course. The whole point was as Hoppy stated, authenticity. Someone may be playing games with ink stamps...that's all. Thank you all for the input.

I definetly agree about that that stamp... and older cymbals should be stamped (and it's not always uniform). Newer ones are a little tougher to figure out as they are laser engraved and sure enough there are some very affordable laser engraving machines available if someone was inclined to pass off a low end no-name for something more valuable, which leads back to....

Nothing better than a live demo... and always bring a piece of your own equipment for a reference during that sound test.

looking on eBay... saw this splash..but does something look fishy about that hollow ink stamp logo? Does anyone have one where the ink stamp shows an outline outside of the word Zildjian where it was pressed hard to show this or is this a really good homemade stamp? Maybe Zildjian used a different, smaller stamp for splashes? The stamp on top, splash, looks of the period but ...not sure

along the lines of this inquiry, I would agree that overmarking looks way fishy...
