New Strainer for Valencia Snare

Retro, that Gibraltar strainer looks nice enough, but how is it that it will fit the holes on your Valencia? The Pearl strainer has a horizontal hole spacing and the Gibraltar has a vertical hole spacing.

...Cn....I called one of the on line stores and the guy there said the holes were horizontal.....do you know for sure that they are vertical?

Mike, you may end up having to make a small adapter plate. No big deal, but it may be your best option, that way no drilling, and you can use whatever strainer you like. The adapter plate should not be too thick, but thick enough to take the weight and stress of the more modern design. Since you still have some pieces of wrap, you could make it of wood. But metal would work as well.

On the shell its 7/8 of an inch, horizontal.

Kevin, do you know of a strainer with that spacing?

This one has a 1 inch spacing of the top two holes.

I would be willing to venture it would fit without too much hassle.... maybe a very slight enlargement of the holes.

The top two screws would surely hold the strainer good enough and get you back to playing this drum.

It is one of those "Pearl Type" generic strainers available from Drumfactory .... the S-1.......

As you can see, I was not nearly so concerned about drilling extra holes... this is a namesake drum my buddy Backbeatkeeper gave me because it has my name on it

Found it...... $13.00 .........
