Hi, and Welcome to the insanity of drums. This is a Pearl stencil drum, likely from the early to mid 70s. The strainer and muffler type and position are my keys to ID on these old Asian drums. This is the first I have seen in this size, but, that means nothing more than it is a marching drum, and likely from the 70s. The plastic strainer adjustment knob is one of the keys and the fact it has this particular strainer. Not the best, but a worthy one, as long as it is straight and still functions like it is supposed to.

Does a magnet stick to it? If it is a COB, then you likely have very little adherence from a magnet.

You know what Jonnistix the slotted rods, the lugs and the die cast hoops scream AYAX!!!! to me but you're right about the strainer...In my opinion that strainer doesnt belong to the drum. Inside pixs might help.

I actually fitted the Die Cast hoop, I still have the orignal hoop though. Any one have any ideas of the value of this drum? I'm looking to list it on Ebay.

thanks

To me your snare drum is a 1970's Premier by the lugs and T-rods..The strainer is wrong for that drum the one on the drum is a M.I.J. cheapy made strainer that you would fine on drums made by pearl and about 40 other names made by them...Mikey

I agree this is a Premier. Looks like it from the lugs.

I doubt very seriously that its is COB.....it looks like Aluminum to me.

In this condition, and missing the original strainer, and with no drum label , I think you might get around $100 for it, more if someone is really looking for this drum. One thing tho....when whoever put the new strainer on, did they drill new holes in the metal? If they did, the value drops like a rock.

Yes its true that this drum was made by Premier but it was sold under the name of Olympic what is made by Premier i did some checking your drum is from 1974-77...The right strainer would look like a Ludwig P-85 but smaller with that added M.I.J. strainer who ever put that on the drum would have to drill another hole the Olympic strainer would be mounted with only 2 holes not three like the M.I.J. one they added..With that said your drum would sell for 40.00-75.00 because of the strainer....Mikey

It's a 50s Beverley. You may want to amend your eBay listing, regardless of the incorrect "apres manufacture" components, it's a desirable resto project for the right collector/nerd.

i agree totally. it is a Beverley. the lugs are identical to a 14x6 W.M.P. that i bought on ebay about 5 years ago but it might even be older-----40's.i have seen one similar and it was from the 40's. the original cast hoops were recessed for the very long t-rod heads to drop into and likely had Beverley etched into them. it is too bad that the original throwoff is not on it. it is a very good throwoff. about 5 inches long x 3/4 inch with an unusually long cast handle that goes out for off and in for on and it works like a charm. i'll bet it is chrome on brass and sounds terrific.
