Hello to all off you! I find a relatively discent condition Tacton metal snare drum 14x5,5,and i want to share with you some look at the East German ingineering.First off all sorry, some things i cant explane in english(because it is bad),but I hope you will see from pictures, what it is.First, shell is not welded, nuts in the lugs are M6.Snare mehanism is some kind of copy of Ludwig super sensitive or premier 2000 sistems.I'm missing one part(you can see it on the picture which is not mine),it is cental 6mm thick bar with handle, but I will make it.Whole snare sistem is in the springs inside the snare which lift up snarw, and with the handle you push it down too adjust snare and then release it and springs on both ends lift it up.I dont know is those snare bads original or someone during the years made them.If somebody own another snare like this, can put light on that. Also,I don't know is the original snare clasic 14" or it is oversized because it can be fixed with longer snares.

Hope this can interest a bit

Looks like a super neat snare! However, I have a complaint. I can't read a darn thing on the newspapers under the snare in the first pix... Eye Ball

Hi, Dule!

It's a Ost German last copy of SONOR snare. These snares are very common in post-Warsaw Pact and Russia, and Serbia too.

The mechanism is a copy of SONOR'a 50's (Premier and Ludwig also correctly) and went on snare drums TROWA, and then on TACTON which continued to be issued to the 90's.

Most likely, this snare has already late modification of this mechanism - with two eccentrics instead of double leverage.

After the restoration of your snare drum will have anot bad sound.

I will try to help you in repair and find more photo and a kinematic scheme of this mechanism.

However, I can not promise you that it will be soon. :-)

Rgds,

George.
