Thanks, but no apology necessary, we're just talking drums after all.

The 12x18 is a 3 ply with re-rings, typical of Gretsch for the time period. The 8x12 is a six ply RB drum.

I'm trying to locate a group of photos I have of the drums which I sent to a couple of Gretsch experts when I was looking for verification. I'll post them on VDF when/if I find them.

By the way, which style bearing edges does your '69 walnut set have?
