Just purchased a Zickos kit, 18x22 kick, 18x18 floor tom, 12x14 rack tom and it also came with a late 60's Rogers (Yamaha) R-360, 5.5x14, COS snare. The kit is in great shape for the most part. However, the previous owner, who bought it in 1976, did not use resonant heads on the toms. He did however have the hoops attached. The hoops on the floor tom were heavily rusted, especially the resonant hoop. Cleaned it off the best I could with Metal Rescue bath (which is awesome stuff by the way) and then Turtle Wax chrome polish and rust remover to keep it from rusting further. I know this is only a temporary fix because "rust never sleeps", to quote Neil Young. I am going to use resonant heads for the toms. I would like to replace the floor tom hoops (with notches) and I also need a hinge and mini claw for the floor tom since one was missing when I bought it. If anyone has a connection for Zickos parts, or has a retro-fit suggestion that has worked for them, please let me know.
