Hi, first time I've logged in here for around 10 or 11 months - so just got your messages. I remember you asking about my '1936' WFL Speed King pedal before. I paid a lot for this some years back from a specialized vintage drum shop in the USA where it was advertised as the earliest version from 1936. It is different from others and folds up inside itself and is in really good condition with the lettering on the pedal etc. I still have it and will look up what I paid for it but I live in the UK and think I paid over $200 for it as it is so unique. I can search emails to find out - maybe over the odds but as you know condition and uniqueness add a lot to value. I also have an old WFL Speed Master from the 1930's as well. I can contact you by email from my email address if you are still interested and need more photos? Cheers, Dan

I wanted to contact you again about the Speed King Prototype. Can we talk about me getting that pedal for my collection?

    Please let me know,

I collect Ludwig bass drum pedals from 1909 to 1969. I saw this post the other day. I would love to have this Speed King version for my collection! Any possibility you would sell it to me sir?

    Thank you,

Hereís a photo of what I believe to be one of the first Speed King pedals which Iíve just recently bought (havenít quite got it yet). It was advertised as 1936 (maybe a prototype?) William F. Ludwig started his company properly the next year if I remember right and patented the design for the internal twin springs inside the posts. On my earlier version they are still outside - the later design obviously worked better! On the upper section of the footboard it says ĎTwin Spring - Speed King - pat pendí
. The original paint on this one is gold coloured.

I use a couple of the later 50ís Speed King pedals - great design!
