The trouble would be in getting me out! Have been to the Monroe factory a few times. Certainly would have been a joy to go to this one as well.

Not only DID I go in, I got the full tour! This was back in 1973/74, and they couldn't have been nicer! Was just me and my buddy from Berklee .. then .. we drove out to Niles, IL to the Slingerland Drum Co. We were invited into reception, but NO TOUR. The person chatting with us said Slingerland has FORMAL TOURS, in that you have to take them as they are scheduled ... drat! In 1973/74 Buddy was still with Slingerland of course!, so I was hoping to see some fresh Slingerland 80N Buddy Rich's being built, but it was not to be. The Ludwig tour and personnel were GREAT though!, especially as we just showed up cold without calling ahead.

I got the tour in the early 80's. The guide had been working at Ludwig for about 34-years. At the time I could hardly imagine being 34-years old, let alone work for a company for that length of time!

Good tour, super friendly folks at the factory that directed me to Bill Crowden's Drums LTD to make a purchase after the tour (natural maple Coliseum and a couple of ASBA Caroline pedals).

Hi,

Yes! I would love to go into that old building and see all the hidden treasures in the dark out of the way corners.
