I don't know much about this snare. I think it's early 50's dog tag badge. It's a thin Mahogany (I think) shell and nickle plated hardware. 14 x 7 sounds real big. I just cleaned it up no refinishing.

Looks like a great example of a Student Model Radio King from, as you surmised from the badge, the early fifties......
