While browsing through the "Drum Badges" site on the forum I happened to notice two "badges" for the J.W. York & Sons Drum Company.
It caught my eye since I've got a J.W. York & Sons bass drum that I acquired with several Leedy drum pieces from the early 20s. The "badge" on my bass drum is the second one shown on the badge site and is actually a "label" affixed to the interior of the shell, in lieu of a badge. Under the J.W. York & Sons logo are the words "House of York."
I'm trying to determine the actual age of my particular drum, based on this label. I'm also trying to determine the connection, if any, between the company on my label and the York Band Instrument Company. I realize that "York" produced other instruments besides drums, but can't determine when they actually started manufacturing their drum line.
Anyone out there have any "words of wisdom" on these issues?
THANKS in advance for your help!
