Rogers Power Tone - just got these...

Loading...

I'm NEW here! As a veteran professional guitarist, I've stood next to plenty of drummers. I've never been a drum owner until I just salvaged these cool Rogers PowerTones from a neighbor's basement. They're in ok shape, missing a few parts, a few dings, etc. But I like 'em, and I'm going to fix 'em up a bit so my daughter can play them (me too).

Must admit though, that I'm not much of a vintage drum expert, and as a newbie, I'd appreciate any of you chiming in with your thoughts here. I'm assuming that these were likely Rogers' middle of the road drums, and I'm guessing mid-70's, but I have no idea how to tell. I'm sure all that is covered in other posts in the forum somewhere, but if you'll indulge me with your expert opinions...well, then I might know what I've got here.

Thanks drummers...

ugh...trouble uploading images...my guitar forum uses some different code...here's some links...sorry...I'll try to fix soon.

Welcome!

Nice find and not your middle of the line Rogers kit, at all. It looks like they are in very good condition too.

I'm not an "expert", by any means. But I take a shot ... It looks like you have the Starlighter or Celebrity outfit.

When you say "rescued", does that mean they were headed for the trash? Eye Ball

Tim

They were indeed headed for the trash....a neighbor was getting rid of stuff. I grabbed these and a metal Ludwig snare for nothing!

Congrats!

That is a top of the line drum kit. 5 ply maple with 45 deg bearing edges. In my opinion, that kit will stand up to any.

Early Fullerton with the large paper tag. Great drums! Top of the line and they will sound great. Nice score.

Ya hit the Rogers drum lottery, my friend! Perhaps save some pennies (about $500 worth), and buy a matching Powertone snare in Red Glitter. Happy drumming!

Thanks Everyone.

I'm thrilled with the news! Haven't hit a score like this since 20 years ago when I found a PRE-CBS Fender amp at a model car remote control raceway where they were using it (hole in the speaker and all) for a PA system. I traded them an inexpensive solid state amp straight up and they thought they had gotten the best deal ever.

Can anyone confirm that they are either the Starlighter or the Celebrity package? (See previous post from thornbeck)

If I really wanted to get all "vintage" on this and rehabilitate with original Rogers parts, where would I find those?

I just fell in love with these drums! All tingly inside now...and I usually only get that from a six-string Gibson!

BBB: the pics I was able to pull up on PB don't show the set-up. What are the drum sizes. Also, describe the mounts that are on the BD. Parts for Fullerton drums are easy to come by. I'll point you in the right direction once I know what you've got.

Here's a link to Photobucket album with close ups of all the mounts and the general set up.

Toms are 13" and 16". Bass drum is 22".

Missing a front lug on the kick drum and cymbal mounts on top of the kick drum.

It has the extra cymbal mount forward of the tom mount on top of the bass drum. Looks like that maybe makes it the Celebrity series?

It's wonderful!
