I have an old Slingerland kit that I'm curious to find out its value...I am not interested in selling it as it was a Christmas gift from my Grams but possibly to have it restored at some point. The bass drum measures 20", mounted tom 12" & floor tom 14"...the label on the bass is black & brass with serial#57368 with no interior stamp; the mounted tom has an interior stamp of a capital P & Jan. '65 date; the floor tom has an interior stamp of capital P & Nov. '64. I can tell some exterior hardware is not original and what appears to be weathered splitting on the mounted tom though I think minor enough & easily repairable...any info would appreciated.
Curious of Value of My Old Slingerland Set
Johnny, can you post pics of your kit for us show the hardware your speaking of also?, the P stands for pearl which means it is a wrapped finish.
interior splitting and buckling is actually very common on original 60s Slingerlands. Lets see a pic.
Johnny,
As Vintagemore points out, posting some pics would really help. However, from what you describe, the kit could be the Modern Jazz Outfit No. 9N, as pictured here... http://www.vintagedrumguide.com/images/slingerland_drum_sets/1967-slingerland-catalog4.jpg
I have the same basic kit, but with a 16" floor tom. Your 14" floor tom will easily increase the value. Without seeing pictures, and based on current economic trends with Slingerland drums, I'll hazard a guess of $1000 - $1200 for the three drums. Again, condition is everything. Please post some clear pictures if you can and you'll get lots of help from our "experts"!

I just looked at the kit I gave the link to... AND... it does show an option for a 16x16 floor tom! So, my kit could be a 9N. Cool!!
Here's my "9N"!!

MME! Thanks for the compliments! And, yes, they sound wonderful! The bass has the original heads, complete with the built-in muffler strap on the batter side. I put the original heads back on the toms, top and bottom, and they allow you to experience what the kit originally sounded like back in 1966-67. Slingerland was making their own heads back then and tom heads were only 7.5mil thick, the same as a Remo Diplomat. The original tom reso heads have never been hit! The hi-hat stand has been modified with a synthetic pedal strap, as has the Slingerland Tempo King pedal. Both pedals have great feel. A really fun kit to play!

TAKE THOSE HEADS OFF and store them in a safe place. Put some Diplomats on if you like the sound. Beautiful kit.
Ya lets see some pics!
Idrum4fun, those silver sparkles are absolutely beautiful!!!
Thank you!
