15 inch snare by 8 inch depth slingerland

Loading...

found this recently..I am looking for any info regarding the year, strainer, butt plate, and badge that was used etc..

It looks like 3 ply poplar mahogany...The stamp inside says 196 but the digit after the 6 is NOT legible...according to my rob cook slingerland book it looks like it could be a 1955-1962 concert king with a 3 point strainer..

Also, if anyone has the parts i will buy them....

The finish on the outside of the drum is still in great condition so i was considering just polishing it or something with furniture polish or something. If anyone here on the forum can reccomened a product to use so i can just keep the outer finish on the drum would be greatly appreciated...The drum again looks like it is in very good condition still...

thanks

jeff

Thanks for the info. It's funny though the holes that are drilled do not match the rapid or zoomatic strainer. It looks like its drilled for a 3 point strainer

Check the '60 catalog.

The "Haskell W. Harr" Concert King is shown in your size with a 3-point.

Are there tone control holes drilled in to the shell? If so, are they located to the left of the strainer mounting holes?

I noticed the badge/vent hole is to the right of the strainer mounting holes. Not that the catalogs are 100% correct, but it looks like shells from 1960 and up had the badge/vent hole drilled to the left of the strainer. Some of the shells prior to 1960 had the tone control on the left and they were the Concert King line.

The badge impression looks like it's the large oval style (1948-1950) or possibly the medium oval style (1951). It's really doesn't look like the impression was made by a "Black and Brass" badge.

This could have been an old stocked shell that didn't get used and date stamped until 1960.

It's good to know you are planning to bring this drum back to life. Post an ad in the Wanted section too. I'm sure someone on the forum has the parts you are looking for.

The tone control is a Harold Dodd muffler with 2 pads. (Green ) However it is located to the right of the butt plate.(strange) The Haskell harr 55-62 concert king does show the tone control to the left of the strainer you are right.

And I was going to mention the badge as well! The badge certainly isn't the black and brass 60s badge. It most def looks like the 48-50 oval badge...very interesting drum here...I am looking forward to getting the parts

I think you have a 1960 drum because.....

It's stamped 196?

And it's at least younger than 1951

In '51 the Concert King had the 3-point with snare brackets.

Yours doesn't appear to have them.

What's the measurements of the badge imprint?

The width of the imprint is just shy of 2 inches

Top to bottom it appears to be about a inch.

Then it's not the Large Oval '48 to '50 .... 2 x 1.25 inches

All the other Ovals are 1.75 x 1 inch

Mouse over the badges on this link and the size is listed
