LUDWIG Stainless steel ID#s

Loading...

First off, hello, I am new to this Forum and joined because I am now out of Drummer Retirement after almost 30 yrs.! Just when I thought I was out, they pulled me back in! Anyhow, I have a set of six vintage Ludwig Stainless Steel concert Toms I bought from a friend of mine back in 1977. I have kept them in great shape and were very rarely ever gigged. I need info about their stamped serial #s. The numbers are 7 digits all starting with 15xxxxx. One example #: 1574680. The 3rd and 4th digits are either 73, 74. on the toms with the exception of the small one which is 70. Basically I would like to know the year of manufacturing. Am I to assume that the 3rd & 4th digits represent the year? Any info would be great!

They are OctaPlus Toms. I will try to post some pics. I am just curious as to when they were made. I am looking to collect the missing pieces to get a full OctaPlus set. Looks like it could get pricey!
