Thank you so much for posting this video. I needed to see this.

You're gonna laugh, but I sent this invention into a VERY well known percussion company for development. I still have the video of my work. Dang...this ****es me off. They turned me down for development. Scabs!

It's called a Tambraction. I invented it. It's a kit tambourine mounted and secured with heavy springs. It's meant to be played with the hands or a stick. It has excellent response and action. With one strike, you get multiple action.

I have the prototype and the drawings and videos of the development. I've played one for many many years. Pretty cool instrument...if I can pat myself on the back a bit.

wow,

thats something. im located in copenhagen and there is a drumstore with a great workshop. they are producing pj cowbells, dont know if you ever had a chance to hit one of these, they are fantastic. i think you should try to aproach them. i can get you the contactinformations if you are interested. this thing is so cool, everybody will have one within the next ten years. or at least every other everybody. would you be up for putin one together for me, then i also have something to show around. im going to perform a lot this year, so it will be seen! it would so much fit this band (its me drumming) [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JM3ZQRz9AE0[/ame]

I sincerely appreciate the offer. I'm not at all interested in moving forward with this. I dug out the tape that I sent in...and they subsequently rejected. Judging from my appearance, it was a few years ago. Dig that mad hairstyle.

I snapped a few pics off the tape and of the kit that I played while developing this one. I've actually invented quite a few percussion instruments, tools, and whatnots throughout the years.

Note the rack system the kit's on. I invented a RackTool this same year. It was a combination open end 'X' to allow the Gibraltar wingnuts and large T-handle wings to be tightened without killing the fingers. I put three other handy items on it (a drum key, a slotted key, and a screwdriver (flip reg and cross). That one appeared in back of a Modern Drummer a few months ago. It's being sold by one of the companies I sent the demo to check out. Sucks. Yes, I have the prototype of that one, too. What can you expect from people? Not much, evidently.

Anyway, here are the pics. For the curious, the kit is a Yamaha Rock Tour Custom (Black Sparkle Lacquer) 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 22, (some percussion stuff here and there) and a couple of Paiste and Sabian (maybe a Zildjian or two) cymbals. Mostly Paiste. This was shortly after I parted ways with Sabian. I can tell because of the Paiste Sound Formula crashes that are so prevalent in that setup. I believe this was when I was recording in Miami. I was also teaching at ... dang....gettin' old.......RESURRECTION Drums. I almost forgot the name of that place. Cool store. They had two locations at the time. Neato place.

So, that's the rundown on this gadget. One of several that have been stolen over the years. My heart stays focused on what's important. No sweat.

Allow me to double-post a bit here. I invite you to build yourself one. It's a very cool instrument and you have a cool feel behind the kit. This instrument would fit you well. Nice textures and landscapes are being laid down in that video of yours. I see the artist.

Have your friends build you one and enjoy it. Take care, my friend.

Jay is playing a vintage cymbal spring made by Leedy. They are hard to find but you can sometimes catch them on ebay. I believe the tambourine is a vintage ludwig hihat model. Good Luck, its a sweet rig. I have one myself. If you ever have a chance to see Jay live check him out, great drummer and wonderful person....

I developed this well over twenty years ago. The video dates around 18 years ago. Any idea if this was used prior to that? I've never seen it before and up until this video here, have never seen it since. Anyone ever seen one of these prior to the 20 year date? Curious.
