Default hi, question for my 60's ludwig vintage drumset..

hi guys nice to meet you
im asian , so my english is very BAD.
please understand my foor english.. thank you.

i bought the drums on ebay one years ago,

60's vintage ludwig superclassic WMP.

serial numbers -
bass : pre
snare : 713759
floor : 144705
13" tom : pre

so here is my question ,

i dont know what is their correct mute muffler.

i guess , my snare was made in 1969, shell's inside color is natural wood. installed ROUND muffler on large knob. is this right ?

and 13" tom was made in 61 or 62 or 63 .. ? (guess from PRE SERIAL) , shell's inside color is painted white. (but i don't find date stamp...)
installed round muffler on smaller knob. but it is broken somewhere, doesn't works anymore..

the floor tom was made in maybe 1965 , installed Baseball Bat Muffler in white color. inside color in white. i think this is correct.

bass drum have no muffler.

i bought the original ludwig vintage baseball bat muffler from japan last week..
so i disassemble the 13"tom's round muffler.
but 13" tom's shell's muffler hole is smaller than baseball bat muffler's...

do i make a large hole on 13" tom's shell ??
is this crazy ?

what is correct mute mufflers on my drums.... T.T

vintage is very difficult.

thank you for reading. i waiting your kindly answer ..

50's and early 60's drums had the small knob. BB style was used from approx. 1963 to late 1968-early1969. Large knob used after that. Sounds like all yours have the correct mufflers in place and putting a BB on that 13 would be wrong for that particular drum.

Your English is just fine. If we can understand each other you're good to go!

to the forum!

What kind of music are you playing on that old kit? Do you gig them out with a band? (You're a musician you should know what 'gig' means!)

Good drummers to emulate/copy. Look into Taylor Hawkins the drummer for the Foo Fighters. You'll find a ton of great stuff to steal from him too! I used to cop stuff from drummers like Mitch Mitchell and Joe Morello, but I'm an old-timer and those guys were from the stone age... my generation.

Post a photo of your kit if you can I'd like to see it.
