anyone ever come across a 3ply 70's Ludwig super classic (22/13/16) build in green sparkle? i remember seeing one before with B/O badges, curved spurs and rail consolette. i know these must be highly desirable these day and fetch a decent dollar.

You'd be surprised. Even though they're fairly rare, they aren't that highly sought after, and I think it has to do with the fact that there are 10 zillion re-issues everywhere you look.
Here's my 26-15-20 with mach lugs from 76. I did not pay very much for them.
This has some extra holes, but it'd getcha started:

but if you could find an original 22/13/16 (non-bonham sizes), that's quite rare.
Actually, according to Geoff Nicholls,Bonzos first Ludwig kit pre Zep,was a green sparkle 22,13,16 and a 5x14 supra. If more Zep/Bonzo fans out there knoew that,I suspect the prices would go up....just like when people found out Bonham uses a 6.5x14 supra. You could pick those up for 150 used, all day long.
I was going to criticize the Bonham usage, but it's spot on,although I'm sure the seller dosen't know that.
