I was offered these '70s Vistalites in exchange for a more modern Gretsch Catalina Rock kit that I own. https://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/ms...307361665.html
Those Vistalites seem to have some issues like missing original hardware, some small spider cracks along the lugs and an out of round tom. I'm not too concerned about the missing hardware as that's easily replaced and the spider cracks seem to be a common issue and aren't that big to begin with. The out of round tom is the only thing that gives me pause, even though the seller says it's not bad and the heads fit on there with no problems. I'm planning on going to check it out in person, but I was wondering if anyone thought this was a good trade or whether I should pass? |

Run, skip, jump, dash, fly, swim, do what you need to do for the trade

Cool. Thanks guys. I'm definitely leaning towards trading. Like I said, it all depends on how bad that floor tom is. But, talking to him, it sounds like it might not even be that bad, or even out of round at all.

You can reinforce those little spider cracks with Weld-On #4. You can buy it online. It's runny, but you can buy a syringe at any CVS and fill the tiny cracks. Dries clear and rock-hard. While you have the drums open... run a bead of Weld-On on every seam. The seam in any Vistalite drum is a 'V' shaped channel. Fill the seam up to the top and allow to dry. The seams will be MUCH stronger than when they left the factory. You will need Weld-On #1 for the seams. It's a much thicker formula and will not run as you apply the bead.
DO THE TRADE... John
