When I use to order a "virgin" bass drum with spurs, the company referred to it as "virgin top".
The Rogers drum is not a "virgin top", it has a cymbal mount on it.

That's what I always thought. Nothing on top and just the spurs. I wouldn't feel at all guilty adding a tom mount given that it already has the cymbal mount in place, and then getting some toms to go with it.

I get it though, thinking, "how long do I wait for the other two pieces to show up?" More frustrating is the fact that they will invariably show up a few weeks after you sell the bass.

This blue sparkle one looks like a virgin bass drum to me.

Virgin means to me, no tom mount or cymbal holder, so IMO, that's not a virgin bass drum, sorry to say, and I have to agree your asking price is high. I also think you were rude to the first guy who mentioned this.

I lean heavily toward this end : that any mount on top is not virgin. But even with something as simple as this opinions don't equate to 100% agreement. (Not saying this doesn't answer the question satisfactorily.)

When I bought it it was slated as virgin. This is not the reason I bought it; I needed some parts for another kit. Would in fact love to complete it; but good &^@(!&% luck.

Removed "virgin" from listing; kept note that small minority might consider it such.

There's a reason; I meant to be.

Obviously. I can do without an attitude like yours. Ignore List.

Bob: how about you mind your own business? You have no idea what you're talking about.

&, BTW: thread's not about $ but what virgin means. I couldn't care less what people think about price. The irony of you 2 chiming in about it is that 9/10 when anyone who inquires about what item X is worth nobody answers. But the price cops always begin screaming when something's not priced in their bracket.

I'm regretting the thread at this juncture. Gentlemen: Cool your jets. Hobbs is a good seller. I've purchased from him before. Let's not get into a battle, please. I was simply intending to bring to the forum the question of what constitutes a "virgin" bass drum because it is a term we all use. I think there is a reasonable consensus at this juncture, and Hobbs did modify the advert even though it was not his personal view of what a virgin bass is or what the person he bought it from thought.

Let's kill this one.

I feel very strongly about the 2 cents i offered up. I love, have owned many, and gigged Rogers drums. But, I would never consider paying a thousand bucks for even the nicest condition 14x20" bass drum. Good luck with your offering. You may find someone desperate enough for an orphan bass drum who is able to rationalize paying that price for it. if you can't handle a critique of your listing, you must have a very thin skin.

I have a policy that in the RARE instance that there's a personality conflict with another member I won't chime in. Obviously, for now, that's you and I, Leedy.

Time to move on.
