Default Vintage Drum Bug - FANTASTIC!

Hi everybody! I hope you'll take a moment and read this, it's about a member here who also sells vintage drums. He deserves to be recognized.

As you've read in my "1971 Ludwig" posts, I just bought a set of Ludwig drums from and received them on Friday. The drums were in fantastic shape, and I was over the moon with happiness. There were only two small issues, a slight seam lift and the bass drum spurs were bent.

When we buy used drums, I think we all expect to do a little work to make them playable. And when I saw the spurs, I wasn't worried... the fantastic condition of rest of the set far, far outweighed the bent spur! So it was with a smile that I posted here, asking for ideas on getting replacements.

Let me say this VERY clearly: I did NOT think anything bad about the seller. I knew the drums were nearly 50 years old, and I was bouncing with happiness! But when we type online, sometimes we forget how others will read our words, and we type "casually" as if the reader was in the room. My post may have come across sounding negative. For that, I deeply apologize to Vinnie (the seller) for any negativity that was in the post.

This morning, I had an email from Vinnie offering to trade legs with me, and pay the shipping both ways! That is service far above and beyond what we normally see! Vinnie is very proud of his drums, and he had missed the bends in the legs. Vinnie wanted to make it right for me.

I'll be honest, I've rarely seen a seller with such a strong pride in what he does, and I am overwhelmed with gratitude to him. Vinnie is one of the very best, and I'll certainly buy from him again! And maybe someday we can meet in person!

I didn't think your post came across negative, unless I missed something. But it's easy to be misunderstood in a text, e mail, or forum post. After all, they are just words with no inflection or feeling. Smilies help!

But it's good of you to post a correction if you feel it was needed. It's good to get it off your chest.
