Cymbals are known for getting a bit hi hat, going on a ride and crashing.

Yours may not be coated if they're from the pre-lacquered era. I'm not an authority on Giant Beats, but I know that the early 602's were not coated, but that the later ones were. So his unlike yours might be coated.

my understanding is Paiste started coating the cymbals in 1972. If your GB is a preserial then it won't have the coating.
