Don’t worry I’m being very careful and gradual. I love these drums and would do nothing to harm them. I’m using laser measurement equipment to ensure I don’t go too far on the top surface. In real life it looks great. It’s just taken some of the yellow off and has brightened the wrap without using chemicals.

The drum from another angle. I think there was some blue in the light in the other pic. Definitely black oyster, even the lightly rubbed part.

Man, genuine first generation oyster black is absolutely magical. I never get tired of seeing it. I still remember looking at this photo below and being completely enamored with the finish as a kid. There's a nice version of it in the Anthology book where the silver really pops. I read that thing cover to cover.
