Default R.I.P., Aretha

Another legend passes. No one had the pipes of this lady! Truly The Queen of Soul.

I've been following the news reports about Aretha. Very sad indeed. I was even more sad to learn that she passed from pancreatic cancer, same as my dad. Thankfully, they both went fast. PC is a b***h of a disease.

RIP Aretha...Queen of Soul!

She will be missed.
Aretha was truly one of the greats and had a unbelievable four-octave vocal range!
Over her career she had some fantastic drummers behind her. Here is one of my favorites of her with some great grooves by Bernard "Pretty" Purdie

Yes, when it comes to an Aretha drum-backing song, Rock Steady is fantastic!

Marvelous voice and sad to hear of her passing. As with Mark (idrum4fun), the same disease took my dad at 73. This is one of my personal favorites.
