Default Walberg & Auge?

I started a WFL thread yesterday and now think these drums could be Walberg & Auge: http://www.vintagedrumforum.com/showthread.php?t=60849

Hopefully some of of you Walberg & Auge connoisseurs can lead me in the right direction! Do any of you own W & A kits with 3 ply Gretsch shells with added rerings? Does anyone have a W & A kit that has silver sealer, not the black interiors. Also, does anybody own one that is drilled for Classic lugs? I'm kind of at at loss....

I messaged the W & A page and they answered: "Thanks for the post! Very interesting drum! The faucet handle t rods appear to be Rogers. The drum could have been modified by W&A but difficult to tell. W&A mostly used Gretsch shells. I havenít seen a W&A Drum with Ludwig lugs... but you never know. The vent grommet doesnít appear to W&A."

Thanks for any help!

I owned a 16x14 floor tom in Black wrap drum that was pristine. It was late 40's/early 50's era. Had Gretsch lugs. I don't recall what the shell was. But it did have what appeared to be period correct WFL floor tom legs/brackets.

Andy - W&A!!!

I was beating my head trying to figure out what those drums (the WFL/Gretsch mongrels,) could be and W&A is a perfect fit! W&A used the same 3-ply Jasper shells that Gretsch used. W&A would add re-rings and their custom 'Perfection' edges to the drums, paint the interiors (the ones on my 30's W&A kit are painted black,) and perform other custom modifications such as hardware etc.

The fact that Ludwig/WFL hardware ended up on the shells is no surprise to me. It 'could have been' a custom order. The only thing I can't explain is the WFL badge. How did that WFL badge end up on a Gretsch/3-ply Jasper shell with a silver interior? W&A seems to be the most logical candidate, but questions remain. As I said in the other post... really interesting drums.

I'm still digging around. This is an example of a W & A that I found on here that has silver sealer in one of the toms. I've read a bout a few with Classic lugs. but haven't found any pics yet. The only thing that doesn't make sense is the WFL badge on the FT....

That one has me by the ya-ya's too. The badge looks like it hasn't been tampered with. I'm convinced they are W&A drums though. I sent you a PM about them.
