Default Re: Rare slingerland kits for sale

OK...first of all I am a full time saxplayer/trader...I bought 11 drum kits from a friend who needed money...I am not a drum expert by any means...I read a few things today about how to tell a re wrap...I took a lug off the Bass and the color is the same...on the inside there is a small split in the wood at the Grommet so I assume it may have been taken off..also the holes drilled where I took a lug off are not totally clean but very good and I assume a factory hole would be perfect? The wraps are beautiful and all the lugs and rims are very nice.At the top of the bearing edges all the wraps look great...If I had to guess I would say these were re wrapped by a real pro...My question is,how much does this affect the value?I read several different opinions from 30% less to not all all...I have a local drummer that wants these so I want to be fair and honest, plus he has a Rogers snare that will go nicely with my 12/14/18 kit as a partial trade...Also I wouldn't have to ship them!Any feedback will be appreciated...pete

Saxmanpete!

The color is Fiesta Pearl and is quite rare. The bass drum hoops appear to be aftermarket or just that the black has been removed. Is the original Fiesta Pearl inlay still attached?

In regards to the question by slingerfan, asking if the kit is a re-wrap, I would have to say it is not. The only company who offered a Delmar Fiesta Pearl was Precision Drum. I'm pretty sure no one purchased enough of that wrap for a kit.

As for price, I can see your kit going for a minimum of $1500, simply due to the rare wrap. Still, more detailed pictures would be needed for interested parties to make a decision.

There are two kits for sale here. The kit in question for a possible re-wrap is the Sparkling Peacock Pearl. There are no pictures of that kit posted yet, there needs to be. The Fiesta Pearl kit looks to have original wrap. Additional comments on that kit below.

[QUOTE=saxmanpete;421027]Fiesta Bass 30962?floor 101379 tom has no badge and dated JAN64 inside...

Fiesta Pearl kit: Bass drum is late '63-early '64 by serial and two bolt consolette. Rack tom is date stamped JAN 64 and has no badge which is correct. Floor tom is mid '66 by badge/serial and wing nuts on legs. Floor tom was added to kit at a later date. Rail consolette on bass drum has been moved (quite common) so there is at least one non-original hole. As noted by idrum4fun something is funny with the BD hoops. These factors will negatively impact the selling price for some buyers.

More is better. At least a shot like your other kit, a badge and wrap seam on toms.

No glaring issues. Does that tom have a light brown (weak chocolate milk) stain on the inside?
