Default Rogers Nickel Dynasonic

Hey guys, I don't have the ability to post pictures yet, but they will come soon.

I recently purchased a Rogers Dynasonic 7 Line snare drum Serial # 2893.

What I've encountered as unusual about this particular model is that it's not the standard COB, but Nickel over brass.

My father (drummer of 40+ years) and I have spoken with Rob Cook and he says it's a rarity as well.

I'm just looking to see what I can find out about this drum past the info given if anyone has any pertinent or interesting facts.

Thanks guys!

Need pics to tell you more. Shell and rims nickel...lugs/hardware too?

If you need me to post them here for you send them to fltgrycleav at yahoo.com and I will do so. Thanks, Gary

Thanks for the pics. I can see the subtle contrast from the hardware to the nickel shell. Could of just been one that didn't get chromed after it was plated nickel to start. I am not certain as to the plating process for this era. But it might of been one that escaped or passed over for the final chrome plating finish. Curious to see what others have to say...either way cool drum and thanks for sharing it!

Gary,

Did they nickel plate over brass and then chrome plate over that? Also, I should note, the top rim (unfortunately) has been replaced previous to my purchase. Everything else from what I can tell is original.

I'm not sure if the lighting does it justice, but the lugs and other pieces of hardware are nickel to match the shell itself.

Just wanted to clarify for anyone viewing this!

This just looks like dirty chrome to me. Nickel plating doesn't reflect light (and, well, reflections) like chrome does. I can clearly see reflections of the room in the shell of the snare.

Take some bartender's friend to it and see if you get a shiny spot.
