Now, were you the one who was able to pick up that Ludwig 60s silver sparkle frankenkit that someone listed for $45 a few weeks back in I think Hackensack? I got to that ad about an hour after it was posted and the guy had already had a bite.

More importantly, there's a central NJ craigslist ad that was posted maybe 4-5 years ago that I wish I had screenshotted at 3am one night. I wonder if you saw it too (just so I can confirm I wasn't hallucinating). It was someone selling a super 80s looking drumset, I think blue, with tons and tons of toms, multiple bass drums, tons of cymbals for like $10,000. The highlights of the ad were the pictures of this monstrosity of a drum set, set up on it's rack with the guy's 10 ft long python just chilling across all of it. The ad ended with something like "Also selling 2004 BMW" I got a good chuckle out of that.
No, I didn't get that Ludwig set, in fact, I never saw it. Oh well.

What email do you get from CL about drums? I'd like to know more about that.

Here's another example of an over-zealous seller! https://www.ebay.com/itm/Slingerland...1f92%7Ciid%3A1

Yes, it's a really nice looking HSS (early 90's) kit with an 18" bass drum and BR-style snare drum. Still, it's incredibly overpriced. There is a "Make Offer" option, but I have a feeling the seller feels it's worth much more than what it is. But, it only takes one buyer who really wants it!

How did I miss this thread?
As a buyer of the finest drums, I agree.
No shortage of idiots selling kits at ridiculous prices!
I love when no one buys them and now there 30-49% OFF the original stupid price! What's even better is when that same "smart" seller is not even a drummer. But whatever..they can price it however they want & shove it! They will enjoy keeping the kits to look at!

FREE market!

BTW, I only need 2 more kits for my collection.
Anyone have a really nice Fiesta Pearl or Peacock Sparkle set?
I'd pay a little more for one of those

Boy, this thread really caught on fire. But there are some great deals out there. If I was still buying, this one would already be gone to my place. Drop dead gorgeous even if you do have to deal with high hoops and B&B lugs.

Dan! Funny, but I didn't see this one! It sold on July 4, for $2,090.20. What an odd amount! And, that looks like with was the BIN price? Regardless, this kit is immaculate and well worth it!

Here's another high-priced MIJ offering... https://www.ebay.com/itm/1960s-Vinta...d91c%7Ciid%3A1

Sure, it's clean. But, the asking price is high. While there is a "Make Offer" option, I wonder what his bottom line is?

I don't believe this to be a Pearl or Star kit, but possibly Hoshino. Any ideas?

I've been watching this one for awhile myself.

I'm not sure where he came up with that price because there are few if any similar kits going for that price. I mean its " local pickup only" from a place I think is in the middle of nowhere, its unbadged, which takes away half the fun of MIJ kits IMHO, and he doesn't even include the snare!

Well, more power to him if he can get it I guess, but I think he's trying to take advantage of newbies, which isn't cool.

Hi catheters as much as you been learning here it has to be overwhelming ,
Sometimes it has that effect on people .
But the one thing consistently here is the knowledge that we have as a community and the collection are beyond what you would expect , you can spend days going through the gallery and see the collections here done very rare others just nice , some are still coveted but others have been sold off , some here myself included buy and sell, what we all are learning is the deals are slowly disappearing as also prime stock .. because of that , prices can be very high and some times they sell for that , but that’s not the norm here , usually you sit on them and to sell fast you need to find a player that also likes vintage and at a fair price ,unfortunate as it is most up and coming drummers want new so I wish you luck on the sale

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.
