WFL snare identification. Please help! Last viewed: 1 day ago

Hey guys, i just bought this WFL snare on ebay for a little under 100. I'm a little confused as to what i have though. It was in a little rough shape, as the lugs, hoops, throw and butt were all very dull and oxidized, but pitting is minimal. the tension rods are all covered with a decent amount of rust. I'm hoping with a little soak in some dawn and a polish with cape cod cloths, that the nickel will improve. once i got the hardware removed, the shell was very light, mahogany with maple reinforcement rings. at first i thought it was a single ply, because of the overlap of the wood on the inside and outside of the shell. however, with closer inspection, there seems to be a red and blue sparkle ply. The badge was missing, but the date on the inside of the shell looks to be jul 22 1957 (or 1967). not sure how to treat the shell. i was considering recovering in a marine pearl wrap, as the outer mahogany seems pretty rough, as if it was covered with a wrap prior. i just don't want to do anything to decrease value (if there is any). Any help that anyone can offer as to identification of the snare, and if there is supposed to be a wrap on this drum, i would appreciate it. Thanks!

I don't think you can hurt the value any more than it has already been hurt...unless you drill extra holes in the shell. It was definitely wrapped at the factory, so go ahead an put your favorite wrap on it and enjoy it!
