Not unexpected but very sad news to hear that Ginger Baker passed away today. He was 80 years old and I am sure influenced many of us along the way.

I never thought he'd last this long. I think it was just his crotchety-ness that kept him going.
He was my first, BIG influence at rock drumming. The first album I ever bought was "Disraeli Gears" -probably because I liked the day-go artwork on the cover. (I think I was about 8 years old at the time). Rest in Peace, Ginger. You earned it!

He was a big influence on me. My band still plays sunshine of your love, We played it yesterday at an outdoor gig. But the man as a person I've never cared for. RIP.. Now only one Cream member left.

No! I knew it had to come but, I'm still in shock! Like Vintagemore2000, he was quite a great influence on me as well although his personality left me cold. R.I.P., Mr. Baker.

As I said in another thread earlier, Ginger was a huge influence on me as a young drummer, and I still emulate his drum parts when playing Cream and Blind Faith tunes, but his repellent personality unfortunately overshadows all that. In any event, I wish him godspeed on his final journey.
