Default "leecountymusic" on ebay is multiplying!

Ah yes, leecountymusic. The worst drum "Chop shop" on ebay. They strip complete, working vintage drums and sell all the parts individually, at severely inflated prices.

I got so tired of browsing the "Sets & Kits" category on ebay, only to have 200+ results of their single drums and random hardware pieces come up on that category. "Add This Single Gretsch Snare Shell To Your Drum Set/Kit!" (Translated Description: Add this single Gretsch snare shell to your drum set/kit/tom/snare/bass/cymbal/hi-hat/manipulate/to/the/max/your/search/results/ on a shell that was complete, but we're only selling the shell, however you can find all the other parts listed in 42 separate auctions for 5 times what they should be).

I have complained to ebay numerous times that they are using the wrong category and that they are trying to manipulate search results. It's bad enough to strip complete, working vintage drums down to the shells and part it out, but to try and deliberately list in wrong categories just to get traffic on their items? TOTAL BS!!

Well, I came across two more sellers, that all look exactly like the leecountymusic auctions. One seller is "thedrumpartscounter" and another is "theolddrumshop". These are exactly like leecountymusic auctions, same format, same templates, same manipulative wording etc., right down to the puzzling stock pictures in each auction of: a neon ebay sign, a woman, the planet Earth, and a US Mail truck. Seriously WTF? And, they do not disclose their location in the auction. It's just "The Drum Parts Counter-USA". Wouldn't you want people to know where you are and be proud that you are a local business doing good for your community? Unless of course you're trying to hide something. SHADY!!

Who knows, there might be even more? It's sad to say, but ebay, at least vintage drums stuff-wise, used to be fun to browse and look at. Now, by and large, it's just manipulative, greedy sellers trying to overcharge fellow drummers, just because something is "Vintage" and "Desirable". Sigh. Sad but true.

That's why I love this forum and everyone on this forum. We are fair and honest to each other, and genuinely care not only for vintage drums, but we also care for each other and respect each other for how we all feel about this stuff. When I see crap like that on ebay, it reminds how much I love this forum and the people on here!

As a drummer from the UK. I do buy and sell on ebay. I love buying old premier drums etc spending days hours renovating, then turning out a show stopper. Obviously that will make me a profit. Those companys you mentioned are all over ebay UK and i wont buy from the butchers shop. Ill wait for parts coming up from reliable people i know who only take a drum apart because it has lots of bad issues. I dont mind paying top money but wont buy from the said people you mention. Today i have just given away two brand new top of range cymbal stands complete with boom to a struggling drummer who is 16 and needs as much as possible. . I dont even know the lad. He was playing last night and one stand fell apart. I was in crowd and said to him got some new stands u can have for free. Plus brand new drum sticks etc. I make money and i put back to the community. I have found stuff or even been given stuff and made big money. Then ive bought stuff for big money and made little profit....sean PS The sellers you mentioned are well on the UK radar.

All three of those entities have been around for some time. Given the close knit vintage collector community and their opposition to this practice, I wonder how they make any $$$?

Hey V - I'm glad you posted this. I've seen a lot of those ads (I spend a bit of time browsing). Hopefully a lot of the folk that their type of biz would cater to are right here on the VDF and many of them may read this. I too have benefitted greatly from the kindness and friendship from members on this forum who have given great prices and sometimes donated. Support this place!!!!

All these sellers, especially leecounty, have been hotly debated over the years here at VDF. I will say that I did purchase one item from them, which was a Rogers shell-mounted knobby unit for a cymbal L arm. It was reasonably priced, but when received, it was defective. I was able to return it and received a very quick refund.

That being said, what I have found is that the majority of what they sell is incredibly overpriced and sometimes not in the best of condition. If you follow their auctions, you'll see the same items listed over and over, because no one is going to pay their ridiculous prices. What they fail to realize is that as time marches on, the demand for these parts decreases and they're left with an inventory of parts that they can't unload due to these high prices. Serves them right! That's just my on the subject!

I've been told by a reliable source that all of them are the same person.
