Default Ludwig downbeat snare drum wmp

I posted my downbeat piccolo snare drum for sale on my local classifieds, but i thought that i'd also put it up here to see if there were any takers who'll appreciate it.. I'd prefer to sell locally, but if that doesn't go well, i'll let it go here.. First time posting any item for sale so if there is any interest, i'd appreciate any assistance in helping me through the process.. I've got some local interest already, but nothing confirmed yet. 2 guys are supposed to contact me.. One guy was supposed to do so today, but didn't, and the other i'm still waiting on as well.. With that said, i'll try to describe the drum as best i can..

This is a player's drum.. From what i can tell , it’s a 1966, but i could be wrong.. Serial # looks to be 414697.. Snare drum is about 95% original, except for tension rods on batter side, which are Gibraltar .. Reso side tension rods are vintage Ludwig, but are not original to this drum..Hopefully you Ludwig experts can determine that
Wrap is nice and tight, and just has some crackling behind the badge on the exterior, and some wood around the interior grommet hole that has rubbed away behind the badge as well, but nothing major.. This is how i got the drum, so i carefully glued the grommet so it wouldn't deteriorate any further.. It has remained nice and solid since then..

There was also a bit of ply separation at the re-ring, and looks like the previous owner glued it back into place.. It's a little sloppy, but holds well.. I think some light sanding and lacquer will fix that right up, as it's really nothing major..All original lug screws are present except for one that was broken when i got the drum, so i replaced it with a generic screw that i had in my box of parts.. I have a bunch of large classic lug screws of different lengths that i got when i ordered some to restore my Rocker kit, so maybe those would fit ? If you think they would, i can include a few..Rims seem to be original, but again i'm no expert in that department, so hopefully the pics will determine that as well..
The throw-off tension knob is modern P-84 Ludwig, but the rest of the throw-off is original, as is the butt plate and all interior/exterior screws for both..I also have the original tension knob that i'll include with drum..The small screw that hooks to the throw-off lever is what's been cracked in half and is long gone, so it doesn't catch to lift up anymore.. Original baseball bat muffler works perfectly..Modern Ludwig snare wires and Ludwig nylon snare string..
Please feel free to ask any other questions or if you need any other pics.. All in all a great player's downbeat piccolo that will go perfectly with your WMP Downbeat set, or with any other Ludwig kit !
Could also be brought back to it's original state with correct parts..Please forgive the pic positions.
I had a hard time flipping them and for some reason didn't work..
Asking $350.00 USD plus shipping..

Cheers,
Rob

Hey VDF members

I met up with Rob (Human71) today and picked up this snare from him. He and I made a trade for a snare I had in my collection that was not getting any playing time.

It was great to be able to meet another VDF member in person (met some 2 weeks back at the CT Drum show). Like the guys I met in CT, we spent some time chatting about drums, the fun of playing out and life in Canada.

I also wanted to let everyone know that he was very honest in his description of the snare and I am very happy with the transaction. So if he posts anything else, I endorse his honesty.

I am looking forward to making some adjustments to the drum and will post some pictures when I am done.

Thanks again Rob

Hey Michael !

Thanks so much for the kind words, i really appreciate it. I had a great time chatting with you, and it was great to finally meet a fellow forum member in person.. The snare drum is phenomenal. Pioneers are beyond underrated. I'm going to use it at next week's gig, and for many future gigs.. I'll also be recording with it for a McCartney Tribute Band audio demo i'll be doing next week ! I'm going to stay away from the CS Controlled sound coated head on this snare, and find that the single ply head sounds awesome on it.. I'll be putting a vintage A coated on it and Ambassador reso bottom.. I can't wait to play this drum !
Hope you enjoy the snare drum, and i can't wait to see it when once you're done !

Thanks Michael !

Cheers,
Rob
