So you got this! I saw the ad 28 minutes after it went up on CL. I emailed him immediately, twice for good measure. i knew what the snare was even in the grainy pic. I was flipping out for two and a half hours, then got the "kit is sold" email. You scored big! Congrats!

I assume you paid what he originally asked? Bastage!

1976 Ludwig Stainless Steel "Bop" (12,14,18)

My buddy ended up buying the haul and sold it to me for a very fair price. He only knew about it because of the Silvertone amp ad he had also put up.

Unfortunately, the 22" bass drum hoops are warped and need to be replaced. I'll probably order some Fiberskyn 3 heads for the entire kit, as well.

Having recorded and played live with all of those heads at one point or another in my life, the Fiberskyn 3s really do it for me.

The last one on eBay, which contained Ludwig-branded strainer hardware in lieu of the original WFL hardware, sold for $2,076. That was over three years ago, and I don't think one has popped up since.

There was one that sold a few months ago. It went for a little over a grand if I am remembering correctly. Actually, I think I remember two of these selling on Ebay within the past year or so.

I believe those were all COB Transition Badge drums. They went for between $699 - 1099, significantly lower than in years past (I have both Super-Ludwig & SS). The vintage drum market is definitely a bit depressed, but not unexpected given the economy. From time to time, the brass lacquered drums come up but the value is highly dependent on the condition (lacquer, pitting, assuming no major dents, holes in the shell, scratches or replacement parts). However, they do get a slight premium over the COB which are more common relatively speaking.

I'm fairly sure there was one for sale earlier this year and another one last year. I really wish there was a decent Ebay archive that didn't cost a lot of money.
