Noticed a Ludwig Pscyh red on Reverb today-listing says it is a club date from the late 60s with a 14 inch floor tom-has anyone checked it out?

Ya, $4,500, you'd better really like that finish.

Looks pretty cool.

I missed out on a similar set a couple years ago. It was in a music store in Dubuque, Iowa. It had already been sold ($1800) but not picked up yet. No fading of the Green either that I could see. Someone had literally walked in the front door a couple weeks before and said they had a drum set out in the car that they wanted to get rid of. I wish I had happened to be there that day (I only get up that way about once a year).

A week after I was there the set was still listed on the store's website and I immediately called, frantically hoping that somehow the deal had fallen through, but it was just an oversight that it hadn't been pulled from the used listings on the site.

Oh well, can't win them all. All I have to show for it is a washed out cell phone pic. (although I did score a Psych Red set about a year ago so all's well that ends well).

It is signed by The Chief as well.
I suppose if I was ga ga over that finish I would make an offer.
Frog in the blender right? There is something cool about it..

It doesn't say the signature was authenticated, for all we know he could had signed it himself.
I don't get the facination with this finish or mod orange. I suppose if I was dropping purple microdot it would make sense.

I agree.

That's an extremely rare wrap for a Club Date kit. Besides the cringeworthy cymbal mount that looks like a fine kit. Autograph looks legit to me. Who would fake a WFL Jr. sig? It wouldn't add much value in my book.

Then why mention the signature if he didn't think it would add value? I've always heard, just because something is rare, doesn't necessarily make it valuable. The only reason this wrap is rare is because it didn't sell back in the day, it wasn't very popular, so less were made. Now it seems everyone wants one, but do they really dig the finish or is it just because it's rare? I think it's hideous and would only buy if I got it at a steal and then re-sell for a huge profit to one of the many color blind admirers.

All of what you said is true.

Suppose the signature is there so, why not. Isn't it a matter of taste coupled with rarity that makes anything valuable? It's definitely not like tulipmania or Beanie Babies that everyone wanted until the didn't. These drums/kits will likely rise in value; especially if a picture starts to materialize of how many of them exist.

If a box of Crayola's melted all over your Ludwigs in the backseat of your Buick toots your horn, great. I bet Psych R is better in person than photos.
