Re: Humble Pie >< Black Coffee
Very few, in the history of rock-n-roll, could/can touch Steve Marriot, when it comes to having soul. It still blows my mind, that voice comes out of that body.

Re: Humble Pie >< Black Coffee
The only other two that come close are Rod Stewart and Chris Robinson of the Black Crowes.

Re: Humble Pie >< Black Coffee
Seems right, Robinson sites Stewart and Marriot as huge influences. Enjoy the work of all three.

Re: Humble Pie >< Black Coffee
All I remember was Shirley on drums,Marriott, and MAYBE Ridley on bass.........
When I walked into the hall,I could see a 26" kit in WMP set up on stage.......really stood out! Some FOOL threw a empty "jumbo" of beer at the stage from a ways back, and it hit the very edge of the stage, and busted in about a million pieces......... The Pie stopped playing (of course),and Marriott said "It will only take 5 seconds for me to get me axe off,and come down swinging!" Montrose has Sammy Hagar in the band, and I think ST still had Gary Wright in the band. Rock and Roll!
