There's a fellow on this forum, KCDrumDad (Rick Giers) that wrote the book on dating Gretsch and Ludwig, he may be able to help.
And, there are quite a few Gretsch experts frequenting this site.

That is the finest kind of find. You have a real treasure there. As someone mentioned above, you need two more stick choppers to make it right. Talk about getting into vintage drums with a bang (or is it a boom, or maybe a bop)!

I will check out that site for sure and order that book. So are die cast and stick choppers the same thing? If they aren't the same then what is the difference and do they produce a different sound?
