Default Extra holes in 1920's Ludwig and Ludwig snare

I picked this up today in our meandering across the Olympic Peninsula.
It looks like the Ludwig Wood Shell Separate Tension snare drum first appearing in the 1923 Ludwig catalog.
There are some extra holes in the shell and in the hoops and a notch in the bottom hoop below the badge. There is a hole in the top hoop above where the notch is in the bottom hoop. There is a hole below the badge and a similar holes just the other side of the adjoining lugs.
My guess is that it had a bracket on it at one time for marching.

The shell looks really nice except for the extra holes. The finish on the hardware is really nice. The strainer is missing. It was held on by two screws. There holes in the bottom hoop on both sides where the strainer and snare butt are. I have no idea what the purpose is of those extra holes.

Can anyone explain the extra holes and the notch in the bottom hoop below the badge? Would that have been a factory installed option?

Thanks and have a great weekend.

Probably for use in marching set up back then.
I have a gorgeous 4x14 Super Ludwig Dance Model that has a single hole in the top hoop. Same reason.
