I believe you found your issue! Showing that picture, and comparing it to one I provided earlier, appears to be your issue. Wow, it would take a long time to cause that much metal to be worn! Yes, it appears that the only fix is to find a donor snare drum or complete strainer!

Finally, I decided to choose a new modern strainer, but made by Tama, so it's from the same 'family'.
It's the 'Imperialstar series 2011 strainer', part no. MUS65A.
I had to drill two small extra holes for the fixing screws, but worked out quite easy.
If someone would like to do the same: take care of the position of the strainer: if you do it over the old
holes, the new upper hole must be quite close to the big old upper hole (approx. 5 - 7 mm distance)
so that the new strainer base doesn't collide with the hoop of the batter head.
In my case there's still just 1 mm left, as can be seen in the pic.
