Ludwig Marching snare age?

Hi there,

I'm new on this forum, so first a few words about myself. I'm Harry Homan and live in Arnhem, Holland. A hobby of me is playing the drums, but another one is to buy an old drum and make ik look and sound good again.

I have been working on a Ludwig marching snare and trying to find out the age of it. Can't find the right site to determine the age, it all about 60's, 70's but this one in more recent.

Can anyone help me finding the year it was made?

And the badge with the serial number looks like this:

The number is 3024975

Hopefully anyone can help me with this.

I don`t think it`s a marching drum. Looks like a Deep Rock Snare from the late 80`s.

If the shell is 12" deep, then it is a marching drum. The deep rock drum was 10". Looks like from early 80's. Also, the rock snare had 12 lugs, yours appears to have 10.

That's right, the shell is 12" deep and there are 10 lugs.
So it is from the early 80's then. But the serial number doesn't contain the month and year it was made, like it is with Yamaha stuff for instance?
It's just a sequential number that adds one up for each drum that is produced, i guess.

So it`s a parade drum from the mid to late 80`s, Does it have a ink stamp inside ?

The B/O badge with the rounded corners was used from approx. 1979 to 1984 so that's your window.

They went to the Keystone Monroe badge after 84.

FWIW, my college marching band got a new set of Ludwigs in August of 84, and they had keystone badges.
