Drummers!
Can anyone help identify these drums???? They're B/O (rounded), serial # 2235745. These suckers are white wrap, with the inside of the drums painted gray. 22,13,14,16, with 5x14. It has the clunky, slide in/out spurs, and bull horn tom mount on the bass drum, and black wooden BD hoops. I tried to post a picture, but can't seem to figure it out with my phone:/ Any help would be appreciated! They belong to a friend and I'd like to purchase them. I don't wanna be unfair ![]() -J Jdrummer78@gmail.com |

Serial numbers date them early 80's, judging from the wrap, I'm guessing white cortex. Without seeing the snare, if it is a Supra and if they're in good shape, 400-500 dollars. Need to see the rest of the kit as condition is a big factor.

Early 80's would be a 6ply mix of maple and poplar but those usually had clear interiors. It's possible that they could be one of the lower lines like the Standard II's. If they are the regular 6 ply Ludwigs then $525 would be a fair offer (if they are in good shape). If they are one of the other lines then that might be a bit too much for what you're getting.
It would be good to see a full picture of at least one drum to know for sure. Are you sure they aren't 12/13/16/22? |

Upon further reflection the gray interiors plus the white wrap really says Standard II or Rocker series drums to me, both of which had B/O badges at some points. Not necessarily a bad thing but that would factor into the value of the drums, decreasing it as compared to the Ludwig Classics of the era.
We'd need more to go on... |

Well the Rocker logo on the head doesn't mean anything in this case. Ludwig used names on their head line at the time for different applications "Ensemble" were concert heads, "Striders" were marching heads, and "Rockers" were...well you get the picture.
As I said even if they are Standard IIs or Rockers (and we still don't know that they are) that isn't necessarily a bad thing, they were still decent drums (better than some of the later offerings wearing the Rocker name) but just that this would effect the value of them and the price you should pay. If you like them and feel the price is fair though that's all that really matters. |
