Thanks for the positive feedback on my ducos, guys. I think it's a super cool kit! Now, with my recent acquisition of a Camco Chanute kit, I only need an LA kit to complete the Superfecta! :P

I "found" these in April 2015 when my wife and I were on a 3-day vacation to NYC. It was my first visit to Steve Maxwell's store in Manhattan. I was in the upstairs "museum" to look at the double bass Ed Shaughnessy Rogers kit when my eye caught this lonely little duco kit in the corner. My wife was taking a panoramic photo of the museum room when I first laid eyes on the kit. (photo attached)

It is my understanding a teacher from Berklee traded the Way kit in for a new Gretsch kit. I don't know if Steve had actually seen the kit in person or not because I feel like I got a great deal. Steve's not too keen on larger sized drums which is why he let these go. I wonder how many people may have seen this kit before I was able to grab them?

...for those of you who have been in the hobby for many years, these drums were once owned by Ron Olejnik. I know this because his name and address is written inside the shells. I don't really know much about Ron Olejnik other than I've seen other people mentioning drums they own with his name inside.

Well kind of hand a line on a Oaklawn Aristocrat snare locally but the seller got jerky about it and is holding out for a lot more $ I guess.

Saw that a nice original Oaklawn Aristocrat snare sold for $500 on eBay recently, does that sound about right or is that considered low?

I would have given the seller 500, same guy I got my red sparkle Las Vegas from...

Thanks!

Are we allowed to post new generation George H Way sets from Ronn Dunnett here?
Of course they are not true vintage, but faithful vintage recreations, so thought I should ask first.

Okay, here is what I hope will be the first of a few George Way sets in my collection! Stunning drums sonically and visually.

I hesitated to post these because my 59' Way kit is a re-wrap. Everybody has been showing off beautiful all original kits and I thought twice about posting my restored kit. When I got the kit the drums and hardware were all in excellent condition - the wrap was completely roached on every drum so it had to go. I got a great deal on them because of the condition of the wrap. I used Burgundy sparkle (Merlot) from Precision Drum and the kit looks and plays like new. I love them. One of the best sounding set of drums I've ever owned.

13", 16", 20, w/matching 5"x14"

My long-time forum buddy (Dolfan) gifted me the cool GW logo when I scored the kit. Thanks again, Steve! The rack tom was missing it's badge so I used an Oaklawn Camco badge as a place holder until I can get another black-face Way Badge.

John
