Default eBay

Have you noticed that sold listings do not allow you to see the complete listing on eBay now? It used to be you could still call up the listing. Now it diverts you to a new listing.

Maybe a glitch on some listings. Noticed a few times when I wanted to see what was what and then up pops up a completely different drum/kit. Doesn't happen all the time. Seems like ebay's making changes elsewhere as well.

I'm finding the same thing! I'm not sure why eBay is doing this, but it's happening on every item that I'm watching and has sold. I've watched thousands of drums over the years, to be able to add the pictures to my hard drive for reference. Never had an issue with this until now. Looks like I better download pictures while the post is still active!

did a few different Jazz Fests - some are doing what you're speaking about; others did not. Not cool & I think if they keep this up it will hurt ebay.

Hey all. You can still view the original listing. Click on the word "listing" in the message "The listing you're looking for is no longer available. Check out this similar item we found for you."

What you are talking about is different from what the others are talking about I suspect. I've noticed at least 3 distinct changes in the behavior of complete listings recently, all to the detriment of my ongoing pricing research projects.

Listings are flagged to be removed after 2 months. Once they are removed you are redirected to something the programmers (who know nothing about cymbals and are using simple keywords in ads) deem "similar". But the listings are only flagged for deletion not actually deleted in all cases. Some last much longer and you can still get to them. This is one of the reasons for different behavior. I don't know what the process which does deletions uses to decide whether to delete right on 2 months versus let ads hand around for longer. Also in some cases the photos are deleted but the text of the ad stays around longer.

In other cases the seller uses the relist feature but for an entirely different (or slightly different -- again it varies) item. The changes the behavior you see.

There are more details I've picked up, but what I've mentioned so far might explain the variability of experiences you are having.

No. I am talking about what the others are talking about. I too was angry at being shown an active similar listing rather than the original sold listing. If you click on the word "listing" in the message "The listing you're looking for is no longer available...." you will be redirected to the original sold listing. Of course there is a point where the pictures are dropped and eventually the entire listing is dropped. We are talking about reasonably current "sold listings".

I think I'm going to need a worked example with links, or at least a more complete description of what you see on your screen and how you got there (a screen shot). There are too many variables involved.

I'll leave it to the others to decide whether you are talking about the same thing that they are. My impression was that you might be describing different situations.

Here's an example of what's going on... https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-196...d=282984166573

However, as mentioned above, there is a message that says "The listing you're looking for is no longer available...". Just click where it says "listing" and it will take you to the original item. In this case, it was for a "Slingerland" snare drum that is anything but a Slingerland! I messaged the seller about this and he never responded. What is even more odd are the bids from people who seem to believe it's a Slingerland snare drum! It sold for $142.50! I don't get it!

Ebay has certainly made some changes recently. Doing a saved search, I could previously click on Advanced and check for completed and sold listings. The words in the search field carried over to the advanced search. it no longer does this. And yes, lots of items sold now divert you to something that appears to be an item of Ebay's choice. Other changes as well that I cannot recall at the moment. Not real thrilled with it.
