Default Re: Whitehall/Pearl tom mounts

If you had a spade mount plate and a hex mount you could mount the hex mount to the spade plate with a little modification. For some reason I thought that you had mentioned this before. Keep in mind that most of the hardware that I have seen from that era has old JIS screws that are metric, but have a different thread count (pitch.)

I might have an extra hex mount bracket that you could attach to the suspension mount. I'll check and see. But that would be the easiest and would be a "drill-free" way of mounting the tom, leaving all original parts intact.

Also, VERY interesting that you have an 18" bass drum. Do you have photos? It is very, very rare to see an MIJ 18". Usually, those were only on what were considered "child" kits, and some of those had 16" bass drums if I recall correctly. I think all of the "child" kits back then were sold without floor toms.
I haven't taken any pics of it yet. I need a few parts for it and money's a little tight right now. I do have a pic or two from my friend that I got it from. Looking forward to getting it together. Missing Whitehall badge but does have the original front logo head. Thanks for the ideas.

Looks cool. I like that wrap. That tom holder is pretty off center. I assume it's on purpose. Between that and the vent hole (which is also off center), it's hard to see what the true center of that drum is. To quote Sol Rosenberg: "My eyes is goin' crazy!"

Also, are you sure it's an 18"? I'm not doubting your obvious expertise, but I'm very intrigued. I've been searching for years for an 18" Bass Drum MIJ kit, and I have never found one, aside from the "Child" kits that usually had a 16" bass drum and no floor tom.

Yes, have it right here in front of me. It is an 18". The factory tom mount is off to the side on these. The Whitehall badge actually mounts where you see those small imperfections in the wrap near the vent hole. Here are a couple of pics that I found doing some research. They give a good idea of how things are laid out on the drum.

Anyone know what the official name is for the wrap on my 18"?

Mike, I have a Dixie with battleship lugs - and I believe the same color as your 18. My research led me to conclude "Charcoal Pearl". IIRC this can be seen in the Pearl catalog.
