While working out or just walking around the street, I'm not that particular about shoes, as long as they're comfortable and practical. Drumming however is a different story. If I'm gigging , sometimes for hours on end, I need to baby my feet! I prefer Sketchers of that reason. They just feel right to me. Do any of you guys have a preferred brand of footware for gigging? If so, what is it? just a fun thread. Nothing more.
Brian

I typically wear for playing drums whatever athletic shoes I wear for everything else. Sketchers are personal favorites, but the last time I bought shoes, there were no designs at the Sketchers outlet that I liked, so I ended up getting some New Balance training shoes. Super light and very comfortable. Perfect for playing.
That said, from time to time I play with an 80s tribute band and have to wear shoes that are (or at least appear) period-correct. Obnoxiously flashy Chuck Taylors are the obvious choice, but unfortunately I have wide feet so finding comfortable wide-width shoes can be a tall order. Chucks don't come in wide width, and they hurt (and eventually my feet rip through the canvas, not too unlike the Incredible Hulk). As long as they don't give me blisters and are reasonably comfortable, it doesn't matter too much to me.

New balance running shoes for me now. Back in the glam rock days it was knee high boots and for the wedding band days it was dress shoes, which I hated.

Barefoot. Always have. Probably comes from not being allowed to wear shoes in the house as a kid!

Yep, New Balance for me, too! The running shoes tend to be lighter.

Great thread! I'll have to try some New Balance running shoes. It's been just tennis shoes for a while, but it used to be I HAD to wear moccasins to get the feel I wanted.

Had discovered Sketchers whilst in Las Vegas... (at this time of year).. was looking for something that insulated me and removed the risk of sticking to 100F melting bitumen.. They worked out well for the Kick drum as well.. so bought some more when back in OZ online... (Next thing WTF ? ), Ringo is endorsing them.. Sketchers now have retail outlets in Oz... but be choosy which ones that you purchase.. I have worn out a couple of pairs of lightweight uppers with my very demanding "Bass Drum Toe"...

The best playing shoes for me.
Are Croc's (tennis shoes)...they are so bouncy & I can play them out socks, So it keep my feet cooler..! This saves & keeps me going well into the 3rd set..lol
